Radkids

It's official! There is now a whole new group of Radkids!  Radkids are students who know how to protect themselves from strangers.  Today was GRADUATION DAY!  It is impressive what these kids know and can do.  Radkids does not tell your child what we hope they will do, we actually teach, train and empower children with real skills so they can recognize, avoid, resist and if necessary escape violence or harm in their lives.

Our Solar System

The sixth grade students are learning about the planets and our solar system. In these picture it shows a project that they did outside with chalk to measure the distance between the planets. First, they all got a paper listing the measurements of how far apart all of the planets are from each other.  The measurements were scaled down to what it would be like in centimeters and inches.  With chalk they got to draw a line with points showing where the different planets would be.

Champion Challenge

Did you know cowboys think reading is important?  The Champion Cowboys that participate in the Champion Challenge Rodeo held early summer in Spanish Fork recently visited Canyon Elementary.  Their message was #1: It's important to read!  They challenged the students of Canyon Elementary to make sure to meet the reading goal for the month of March.  All students who do that will be entered into a drawing to win tickets to the rodeo!  #2:  Bullying is no good!  They taught what we should do if we witness bullying.  It was a great assembly.

First Annual Art Show

The halls of Canyon Elementary were mysteriously changed to an exceptional Art Museum on Feb. 29.  The artwork filled the walls and created a wonderland for all who attended.  We even had visitors from the Utah State Board of Education, who asked to borrow some of the pieces for display in their building in SLC.  Thanks to the PTA, who planned, hung artwork and provided refreshments for this first annual event.
