Congratulations to Mr. John Sargeant. He has been nominated as Canyon Elementary's Teacher of the Year. In the last 29 years, John has managed to teach more than 2,500 students. In addition to teaching, John has worked as a Student Council advisor, donations coordinator, school team leader, and Shadow Mountain summer counselor. According to his peers, John has perfect penmanship resembling printed text that can be displayed when writing on a whiteboard-a talent his colleagues envy.
Third-grade students watched their classmate do his science experiment. The puppets did the talking about how to stop the sting of a bee. It was so good!
Our amazing teacher, Mrs. Jill Holt received the Crystal Apple Award. She was nominated by her colleagues. Jill attended USU, BYU-Hawaii, and graduated from BYU> She has taught for 32 years and has taught kindergarten, second and third grade at several elementary schools. She currently teaches second grade. Jill is married to Craig Holt and they have six children and 3 grandchildren. She enjoys family "get-to-gethers", eating, watching movies, playing games, bowling, hiking, and going on vacations. Maui was a favorite.
Since 1986, Kids Who Count has provided Early Intervention services to families of young children residing in the Nebo School District boundaries. We’ve helped thousands of families and children and we can help you. If you are concerned about your baby or toddler’s development or had a medical professional talk to you about some milestones your child hasn’t yet reached, you may be eligible for early intervention services. The purpose of Early Intervention is to enhance early growth and development in infants and toddlers under three, who have developmental delays or disabilities.
Mrs. Nuzman’s class is doing science experiments every Friday! We love guessing what will happen.
Do you love telling stories, writing stories, or listening to stories?! Well, we love all three at Canyon Elementary and today we had the opportunity to listen to national storyteller, Donald Davis. He kept us captivated and laughing as he shared how to hide his peas and carrots!
Canyon PTA is amazing! They sponsored Teacher Appreciation Week the last week of January. Breakfast, lunch, trail mix bar, treats, and a flashlight were all part of this wonderful week. The PTA committee decorated the faculty room and front entryway. Teachers and staff were treated to a massage. The week had a camping theme and we were definitely happy campers. We appreciate our PTA and all they do to make Canyon such a great place.

Nebo will NOT be considering a two-hour delayed start tomorrow due to our Monday early out schedule.
