Canyon Jump Rope for Heart Assembly

   Students from Canyon Elementary were entertained and amazed March 9, 2012, as they watched the Jump Rope for Heart assembly put on by students from Harvest Elementary in Saratoga Springs.  Jump Rope for Heart is an American Heart Association event.  Participants showed their jump rope skills while pop music played.  Canyon students got involved by singing the lyrics to the songs as they cheered for the jump rope routines.  Students also learned that jumping rope is a healthy activity for their heart, but some boys and girls have special hearts and need help

Canyon Rad KIDS Graduation

   Canyon third-grade students from Miss Danika Nuttall's class, participated in a Rad KIDS safety program.  Rad KIDS is a personal empowerment safety education program for children.  It is taught by certified instructors.  The Rad KIDS goal is to empower children with an understanding of what their options are and to train them with the skills they need to be safe.  At their graduation, Officer Jared from the Utah County Sheriff's Department, wore a padded suit and pretended to be a stranger.  Each student got to use their Rad KIDS' skills to demonstrate

Canyon Dr. Seuss Day

   March 1, 2012, Canyon Elementary combined Dr. Seuss Day with Parents and Pastries.  Students could dress up as their favorite Dr. Seuss character and bring a parent with them before school to enjoy pastries (doughnuts) and milk.  Afterwards, they got to read some of their favorite books together in the halls or classrooms.

Canyon Teacher Receives Crystal Apple Award

   Mina Money was awarded the Crystal Apple for Canyon Elementary.  Mina is a kindergarten teacher that has taught for almost thirty years.  She is an exceptional, innovative and creative teacher.  Mina works long hours to ensure that her students have the best experience that she can provide.  She is right on target when it comes to addressing individual needs and teaching, re-teaching and enriching student learning.  Mina is a great leader in the school and a wonderful team member.  She has presented at Utah Core Academy and has helped with other in

Canyon Wax Museum

   Fifth-grade students from Canyon Elementary participated in a Wax Museum of United States Presidents and Wives on March 2, 2012.  Students in fifth-grade study the United States and the presidents.  They did their own research on their assigned president or president's wife to find important and interesting information that they could share.  The day of the Wax Museum, they got to dress up like their president or president's wife, and take turns standing and sharing the information from their research.  Parents and students got to attend and experience the s
