Free Throw Contest
Canyon fifth grader, Lexie Branch competed in the Elks Lodge Free Throw Contest. Lexie had a great time and won her age group. In addition, she received a trophy for the most free-throws overall, competing against 9-13 year olds. Way to go Lexie!
Veteran's Day
Canyon Elementary students and staff are so appreciative of our veterans. First graders performed songs and poems in honor of our veterans. They did an amazing job performing for their parents. We were also privileged to have members of the American Legion Post 68 come and talk about their service on behalf of our country. We are proud to live in this great country.
Reading Challenge
Students at Canyon had the opportunity to participate in a reading challenge. Students submitted their nightly reading minutes to be included in a drawing for prizes. Students that read more minutes in the week than Mr. Harlan did, were eligible for the grand prize drawings. Allison Huntsman, Kendra Hemmert, Britton Hutchings, Brynn Tuckett, Hailey Lopez, Alayna Swan, and Braxton Beardall were grand prize winners.
Chemical Reactions
Mr. Harlan visited Mrs. Murphy's classroom and taught the children about chemical reactions in a fun and exciting way. He used Mrs. Murphy's fingerprint to test if "ghosts" were in the room, he combined two different chemicals together that caused an explosion, and he even made pumpkin boogers (slime). We all had a wonderful time learning about the different reactions.
