Students at Canyon Elementary participate in the Ken Garff Road to Success reading program.  Students keep track of the minutes they read at home.  When students meet their reading goal each month, their teacher gives them entry slips to fill out and put in containers by the office for drawings to win prizes.  March 14, 2011, fourth grade student Brinley Crouch, in Mrs. Perkins' class, and first grade student Jade Boshard, in Mrs. Snell's class, both won certificates redeemable for a bike from Walmart.

Canyon Celebrates Dads and Doughnuts

Submitted by calleen.argyle on

Canyon Elementary students invited their Dads, or another family member, to join them as they celebrated Dads and Doughnuts and Dr. Seuss Day.  Students read some of their favorite books with their Dads in their classrooms or in the halls and then they had doughnuts and milk together in the cafeteria.  Later that afternoon, students had a school-wide read-a-thon.
