Fifth-grade students from Canyon Elementary participated in a Wax Museum of United States Presidents and Wives on March 2, 2012. Students in fifth-grade study the United States and the presidents. They did their own research on their assigned president or president's wife to find important and interesting information that they could share. The day of the Wax Museum, they got to dress up like their president or president's wife, and take turns standing and sharing the information from their research. Mrs. Chantelle Oppie's second-grade students at Canyon Elementary are studying the physical properties of matter and how different materials respond to change. While working in groups, they wrote on posters their observations about the properties of some objects that they were given, such as tin foil, paper clips and pipe cleaners. Then they got to make some physical changes to the objects and they recorded their observations again, noting the changes. Students got to share their findings with the rest of the class.
