Last night's PTA Carnival was a hit! There were so many families here doing things from rock climbing to face painting to goldfish winning!

We even had our own band with amazingly talented students as the musicians and singers! Great job kids!

Thanks to all the PTA who volunteered many hours, parents and teachers who volunteered, and parents and families who showed up!

Today we are celebrating Constitution Day at Canyon Elementary! Lots of our students are scouts, and dressed in their uniforms, and helped Mr. Ross druing the flag ceremony out in front of Canyon.

All of the students beautifully sang "I'm proud to be an American" and the first graders recited the entire Preamble to the Constitution by memory!

The students planned a secret assembly, and sang a few songs to Mrs. Higginson. They also had each written her a note on a heart, and placed in on some posters for her. The kids have all loved Mrs. Higginson, and they know that she loves each of them.

After 24 years in the district (and 18 years at Canyon, since it opened), Mrs. Higginson is retiring at the end of this year!

Mrs. Higginson always brings a smile to everyone's face, whether it be the students, parents or teachers. She has made Canyon Elementary an awesome place to be!
