Canyon fifth-grade teachers made arrangements for an Earthquake Display to be set up at our school.  This display told students that Utah is "Earthquake Country" and large earthquakes are possible anywhere in Utah, especially along the Wasatch Front.  History shows that earthquakes strike every 350 years - the last one here was about 350 years ago.  This display of pictures, graphs and charts, gave students great information and a better understanding of earthquakes.

Student, Michelle Renfeldt, and her dad, did a science experiment in Mrs. Rachel Savage's third-grade class.  Michelle showed her classmates what happens when you put different amounts of sugar in cups of colored water and then add them separately to another larger cup of water.  The colored sugar water separates according to their weitght, making different layers of color in the glass like a rainbow.

Students from Canyon Elementary were entertained and amazed March 9, 2012, as they watched the Jump Rope for Heart assembly put on by students from Harvest Elementary in Saratoga Springs.  Jump Rope for Heart is an American Heart Association event.  Participants showed their jump rope skills while pop music played.  Canyon students got involved by singing the lyrics to the songs as they cheered for the jump rope routines.  Students also learned that jumping rope is a healthy activity for their heart, but some boys and girls have special hearts and need help so they can grow to be happy a
