Submitted by calleen.argyle on Thu, 12/20/2012 - 13:50

As an annual Christmas tradition, students in third-grade got to make gingerbread houses.  Students saved their empty milk cartons from school lunch for the frame of the house and parents brought candy and icing to help them create their gingerbread houses.

Project Teddy Bear

We are giving teddy bears and stuffed animals to centers that devote their time to helping children in crisis.  Students from Canyon Elementary donated their own stuffed animals to help those little ones in need this holiday season.  The centers are able to give a child in crisis a stuffed animal.  A cute, warm teddy bear to hug in time of trauma is a great comfort to these children.  The centers are managed by highly qualified, trained personnel and they greatly appreciate our help.  Students form Canyon Elementary were happy to give, knowing that they are helping other children in need

Canyon Food Drive

Canyon student council members sponsored a school-wide food drive service project.  Students from all grades brought in canned goods and non-perishable food itmes.  Student council members collected the food items and calculated their weight each day.  They collected just under 1,500 pounds of food to donate to the local food bank.
