District Reflections Award

Canyon Elementary students won Reflections awards at the district level. Receiving an Award of Excellence were Caroline Riding in Film Production and Joshua Banz for Music Composition. These two students will move on to the region competition.

In addition, an Award of Merit was given to Johnny Covey for Literature, Sophie Jennings for Photography and Alyssa Wessman for Visual Art. We are proud of them and all of the students that participated in the Reflections program.

Second Grade Christmas Books

Students in second have been very busy learning about adjectives and sentence writing as they create their “ABC’s of Christmas “ book for this years parent gift . We are certain their work ethic is equal if not better than any Santa’s Elves.

Walk More in Four Award

Tyler Orten, in Mrs. Cook’s fourth grade, received the UDOT “Walk More in Four” award. Each September UDOT sponsors a program to encourage students to safely walk or bike to school at least three days a week for four weeks. Canyon students voluntarily participated and entered the contest. This year Canyon had more students participate than in previous years. As one of the state winners, Tyler received a new razor scooter and helmet. Way to go Tyler!

Book Fair

Canyon’s PTA is sponsoring a book fair. It is “Buy One, Get One” and will run from December 11-15 in the North middle vestibule.

Mina Money Receives Crystal Apple Award

Mina Money has been helping kindergarteners begin their school adventures for decades.  Students quickly feel comfortable in her warm and loving classroom environment.  In Mina's classroom, like many other classrooms at Canyon Elementary, students continually strive to reach their academic potential.  One place, however, where Mina truly shines is how she interacts with her students.  Mina continually reframes things in a positive light for her students.  She tells them how to be instead of what not to do.  She is also a master at helping students figure out their

Readathon Week

Canyon Elementary students participated in Readathon Week as a culminating activity for Literacy Month. Each morning students turned in their names if they read the night before. At the end of the day, names were drawn for prizes. The following pictures are of our daily winners. Congratualtions!
