Students could enter an art project in the following categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, Visual Arts. More than twenty-five students won at Canyon and will move on to the district level competition. In addition, twelve students received an Award of Merit or honorable mention for their projects. For the month of October, we had a parent firefighter from each of our classes come in for a visit. Presenting were Andy Hall in the morning and Kevin Wilkey in the afternoon. They each shared with us some tips on how to be fire smart and safe. It was very fun and we appreciate such great parent helpers!
Students created a detailed diagram of a paper rocket. They then created a prototype of the rocket. In their notes, they hypothesized as to how far their rocket would fly. The day of launch, they included the date, time, psi, temperature, wind speed, wind direction, how far the rocket flew, what went well and what they would do differently next time. There will be a next time and their detailed notes will come in handy.
