Fishing Day!

Submitted by brittany.neilson on

Miss Russell’s class had a “reel” lot of fun fishing at Salem Pond! Students got to catch a fish in the pond, and watch the cleaning process for the fish to come home. What a great way to spend a sunny Tuesday! #letsgrowtogether #canyonelementary

25 cents for 25 years campaign

Submitted by brittany.neilson on

We had a special assembly this week, celebrating Canyon Elementary's 25th anniversary, the Canyon choir sang and we had special guests come Mrs. Patrick and Mr. Bird.  Since this is our 25th year anniversary as a school, the campaign is called "25 cents for 25 years". We are asking students to bring in a quarter (or other change) to contribute to our new baseball field as a "birthday gift" to the school. #canyonelementary #letsgrowtogether

Keyboarding champions

Submitted by julie.peery on

4th and 5th grade students had the chance to learn and review keyboarding skills this year from the district Keyboarding specialist, Ms. Jen Teemont. The students who were in the top 10% with speed and accuracy were invited to compete in the district competition (pictured here). These students each got a prize and certificate.  Natalia Serafini (4th grade) and in Taylani Reid (5th grade) received the "golden keyboard" award for being the fastest keyboarders in our school.  Congrats to everyone!

Celebrating Earth Day

Submitted by julie.peery on

Our student council wanted to raise awareness of Earth Day and taking care of our environment and our school. They created a fun mural and had students sign it to commit to helping keep our school grounds clean. Thanks Student Council (as well as Ms. Larsen and Ms. Beckham for being student council advisors).
