Submitted by calleen.argyle on

Canyon sixth-grade students got to apply for student council.  Twenty were selected from the application process.  Those students made posters about themselves asking students to vote for them and the posters were displayed in the lunchroom.  In an assembly, they also got to tell an audience of fourth, fifth, and sixth-grade students why they should vote for them.  After the votes were counted, the new student council was announced at school.  The new 2011-2012 student council members from Canyon Elementary are:  Emily Pope, Kennedy Pay

Mrs. Money's kindergarten students invited Mr. Harlan to bring his dog, Gimley, for show-n-tell.   Mr. Harlan told the students that Gimley's favorite doggie treat is cheese and that his daughters used cheese to train Gimley to do tricks.  The boys and girls loved watching Gimley roll over, shake hands and bark 3 times.

Canyon Business Students

Submitted by calleen.argyle on

Canyon third grade students have been earning play money from their teachers for the month of May. They could earn play dollars by turning in their homework on time, walking in the halls, following directions and working quietly in class, etc. They also lost money and had to give some of their play dollars back to their teachers if they were not following the class rules. As a culminating activity, students got to set up their own businesses and they could buy and sell their goods with the play money they had earned.
