We loved celebrating Canyon's 25th Birthday last week! We had some very special visitors that worked here when Canyon first opened, including our very first principal! The Canyon Choir performed for us as we celebrated together. #canyonelementary #happybirthday #25years #letsgrowtogether
Every year the Spanish Fork Kiwanis Club recognizes outstanding fifth grade students from the area elementary schools in their Terrific Kids Program. Students are chosen based on their kindness, respect, responsibility and hard work. They were honored at an awards program at SFHS for families in April.
Congratulations to Audrey Nielsen, Isaac Chapman, Addie Beardall, Brandon Blake, Aria Mortensen, and Joey Goodwin.
Students participated in the Spanish Fork Fiesta Days reading challenge in the month of April. Students recorded minutes read and were put into a drawing for two Fiesta Days Rodeo tickets. Two grand winners were then picked for two rodeo tickets as well as Wrangler Jeans, Justin Boots and a Resistol cowboy hat. Canyon students read a total of 144,595 minutes. Way to go Canyon students!
Our winners are: Olivia Griffiths, Josilyn Johansen, Jacob Walters, and Kyler Leatherwood
Grand prize winners are : Kade Taylor, and Esmeralda Zambrano.
We had a special assembly this week, celebrating Canyon Elementary's 25th anniversary, the Canyon choir sang and we had special guests come Mrs. Patrick and Mr. Bird. Since this is our 25th year anniversary as a school, the campaign is called "25 cents for 25 years". We are asking students to bring in a quarter (or other change) to contribute to our new baseball field as a "birthday gift" to the school. #canyonelementary #letsgrowtogether
4th and 5th grade students had the chance to learn and review keyboarding skills this year from the district Keyboarding specialist, Ms. Jen Teemont. The students who were in the top 10% with speed and accuracy were invited to compete in the district competition (pictured here). These students each got a prize and certificate. Natalia Serafini (4th grade) and in Taylani Reid (5th grade) received the "golden keyboard" award for being the fastest keyboarders in our school. Congrats to everyone!
Our student council wanted to raise awareness of Earth Day and taking care of our environment and our school. They created a fun mural and had students sign it to commit to helping keep our school grounds clean. Thanks Student Council (as well as Ms. Larsen and Ms. Beckham for being student council advisors).
