States Fair

Submitted by kalani.reed on

Fifth-grade students held a States Fair on Monday, November 11, 2019. Each student chose a state to learn about and then created displays so others could learn about their state. Students and families came to the gym to see all of the creations. Great job!

Turkeys in Disguise

Submitted by kalani.reed on

Mrs. Harreld's third-grade students have been disguising turkeys for the upcoming holiday. They then get to write about the disguise that saved that turkey. There are some clever cover-ups that have been used.

Turkey for Thanksgiving?

Submitted by kalani.reed on

First grade has been learning about the democratic process. We wrote speeches and made posters to decide whether turkey should be our main dish for Thanksgiving dinner or not. Then we held a class election and voted. Our results were tabulated and those exercising their right to vote chose to eat turkey!! It was a close race decided by just 2 votes!

Book Recommendations

Submitted by kalani.reed on

Are you a book lover? If so, 3rd Grade has you covered. We have been working hard on our Halloween Character Book Reports. We were asked to read a chapter book and turn a pumpkin into our main character. We found 28 books that we either LOVED or liked and shared them with our classmates. So, if you are looking for a book suggestion just ask the 3rd graders at Canyon Elementary.

Rocket Launch

Submitted by kalani.reed on

Sixth-grade students have been studying the galaxy. One goal in this unit is to help students analyze and understand how far our planets really are from the earth and from the sun. They do this through detail research, rocket sketches, rocket building and launching of the rockets.

Firefighters Visit Kindergarten Classes

Submitted by kalani.reed on

For the month of October, we had a parent firefighter from each of our classes come in for a visit. Presenting were Andy Hall in the morning and Kevin Wilkey in the afternoon. They each shared with us some tips on how to be fire smart and safe. It was very fun and we appreciate such great parent helpers!
