This month our spotlight is on our facilitator: Sarah Blackhurst!

Here's a little bit about her:

Where you grew up: In Payson, UT on an orchard. We grow peaches, apples and cherries. I absolutely loved growing up on a farm.

Family: I grew up with 5 brothers and 0 sisters. I am a lucky mama of 2 boys: Will, 8 and Owen, 5

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Ed from Utah State University, Master's Degree in Education from Southern Utah University, Administrative License from Southern Utah University.

Teaching experience: First grade at Spanish Oaks, first grade at East Meadows, Administrative Intern and Facilitator at East Meadows, Faciliator at Canyon.

Something you like to do for fun: I like to go running! I also like to watch and play baseball, our favorite team is the Yankees.

Favorite Food: I love dessert: cookies, cake, brownies, anything sweet!

Something funny about you: I love nicknames. I like to call people by their nicknames, and have them call me by mine! In fact, I have two myself...

Why you love working at Canyon: I LOVE the teachers and the students at Canyon. They have become some of my very best friends this past year!

Sarah works closely with our interns to help them through their first year of teaching. Here is what some of our new teachers have to say about Sarah:

"She is the envy of other BYU interns. I am a much better teacher because of her influence. She is a constant support and mentor. I am so grateful to have Sarah as our facilitator. She is a friend and a guide that I can always count on."

"Sarah is wonderful! She always gives 120%. Sarah is always willing to answer any questions and really goes the extra mile  to make sure that all new teachers have the support and help they need. She also has such an amazing attitude and never has anything negative to say. She is a great listener and has great advice :)"
