Miss Wickes Retiring

   Miss Bonnie Wickes is retiring from Nebo School District this year.  She has taught a total of 41 years in the district.  She taught 2nd grade for 6 years, 3rd grade for 1 year, 4th grade for 2 years and 5th grade for 32 years.  When she describes her job, she says, "WOW!"  She graduated from BYU with her BS degree and got a Math Endorsement from SUU.  Some of the awards she has received are Who's Who Among America's Teachers (4 times) and the Golden Apple Award.  Miss Wickes' hobbies include playing the piano/organ, cross-stitching, hiking and reading.  She has been a member of several professional organizations; NEA/UEA, Phi Delta Kappa and the International Reading Association.   Her personal motto is, "When a door closes, a window opens, and you have to look for the best in that window."  Miss Wickes taught at Grant School in Springville for 25 years,  then she came to Canyon when it opened 16 years ago.  "What Memories!"
