Halloween Program

Second graders at Canyon Elementary sang and danced their way into the hearts of all those who attended their program. They have worked hard to learn their lines, songs, and dances. Great job second grade!

Kids at Heart

Faculty and staff at Canyon Elementary enjoyed dressing up for Halloween. Lots of fun going on with old and young alike!

Happy Halloween!!!

Ice Cream

Samantha Washburn

Smooth, cold and creamy. It’s ice cream! You can make ice cream at home. Making ice cream is also a science experiment. All you need is half and half, sugar, and vanilla in a small bag. Once you shake it, it's a chemical change because you can’t just take the sugar out. It is dissolved! Next you need ice and rock salt. The rock salt makes the ice colder. You put the ice and salt in a bag and put the smaller bag inside. Next, you shake and pretty soon it turns into ice cream. This is a physical change because you could turn the ice cream back into a liquid by leaving it out.

Sports Hero Day

Jasmine Weier

Sixth graders from Canyon Elementary visited BYU campus on Thursday, October 4, for Sports Hero Day. BYU athletes talked with the students about having positive role models, never giving up, and setting goals. The sixth graders participated in activities led by BYU athletes. Before attending, sixth graders wrote essays on what being a hero means. Ryker Woods won the essay contest for Canyon! It was a day well spent.

Emmy Bateman

Sixth graders at Canyon Elementary learned about mummification in Emmy Bateman's class while studying ancient Egypt. After reading about and discussing mummification, Mrs. Bateman demonstrated the process using a fish. Students were facinated about this practice from ancient Greece.
